After completing the verification or confirmation, stop using the address. Once it expires, do not treat it as a credential for account recovery.
When does the three-hour period begin?
The countdown starts when the address is created successfully, not when the first email arrives. Refreshing the page does not reset the timer. When your browser restores the current token, it continues to show the remaining time recorded by the server.
Before closing the page, make sure your task is complete. A temporary inbox is not suitable for accounts that may later need password resets, delivery tracking, or customer support.
Extend only when you need more time
If the sender is slow to process your request, you can extend the inbox while it is still active. Extending keeps the same address and existing messages, but it does not change whether the sender’s website accepts temporary domains.
Extension is for completing the current short-term process—not for turning a disposable address into a permanent mailbox.
Changing the address invalidates the old one
“Change address” creates a new three-hour mailbox and deletes the old one. Use it only if the address has been exposed, you entered it in the wrong place, or you are sure you no longer need messages sent to the old address. Do not change it hastily when troubleshooting delays.
Manual deletion and natural expiration
Natural expiration stops incoming mail; manual deletion is useful when you finish early. Either way, do not expect to recover the old address or messages. Truly sensitive information belongs in a secure system you control, not in a temporary tool.
What is a three-hour inbox suitable for?
- Downloading one-time materials or viewing demos that do not require long-term access;
- Testing your website’s registration emails and templates;
- Short-term forum browsing, event confirmations, or public Wi-Fi portals;
- Low-risk trials where you do not want marketing lists to receive your primary email address.
